Central Oregon

Early Palm Sunday, my former coworker and friend Dan Brown and I left my Sherwood, Oregon home headed first south on I-5 and then east to Crater Lake on our first stop to Lakeview.
It was no surprise that Crater Lake was not accessible due to very deep snow.
I've been there on the last day of June and the north loop is still closed because of snow from the winter.

This the winter of 2015 - 2016 has been very wet here in the Pacific Northwest.  Records have been set regarding the amounts of rain and snow.  As a result, the Cascade Mountain Range has plenty of deep snow to provide plenty of melt water for the many Oregon rivers.

We stayed at the Best Western in Lakeview.  I had stayed there before in 2013 on a photography trip to northern California.

and a stop at Oregon's Ghost Town, Shaniko.

While our stay in Lakeview we witnessed a news worthy event for the local paper when there was a big auto accident at the main junction of the two roads in and out of town.
